About David E. Meyer, Soil Scientist/President
Mr. Meyer has project experience in all facets of hydrogeology, environmental geology, soil science and agronomy including: public water supply development, municipal/industrial/residential waste water disposal including water re-use (reclaimed water), site evaluations for land application of municipal/industrial sludges and petroleum contaminated soils; wetland delineation and mitigation; installation of monitoring/observation wells with a skid-mounted drill rig; continuous soil/ground water sampling using direct push technology with a Simco EarthProbe® for discreet contamination investigations. Mr. Meyer has performed over 100 Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments for Real Estate Investment Trusts, commercial developers, lenders, attorneys and insurance companies including commercial office buildings and apartment buildings, hotels, marinas, golf courses, shopping centers and industrial properties.
Mr. Meyer has installed and operated initial abatement technologies including free product skimming systems, vapor recovery systems and surface water boom systems. Mr. Meyer has used Aggressive Free Product Recovery (AFVR) to rapidly reduce free phase and dissolved phase petroleum ground water contamination at many LUST sites in North Carolina. His field assessment experience includes UST removals and new UST system installations, monitor well design and installation, soil and ground water sampling, short and long-term aquifer testing, SVE/AS testing and natural attenuation testing and evaluation.
He has prepared UST reports ranging from initial abatement reports to comprehensive site assessments and corrective action plans. Mr. Meyer has been involved with this type of work since 1988. His client list includes small one-store retail gasoline stores, homeowners, medium to large oil jobbers with multiple sites (Tenneco), bulk oil facilities (U-Fill-er-up, Selma, NC terminal) power companies (Carolina Power & Light), NC school systems (Elizabeth-City/Pasquotank County Schools, Randolph County Schools, Duplin County Schools) and industrial clients such as Coty Cosmetics, Spanco Yarns, Kayser-Roth, and Alcatel.
Mr. Meyer is familiar with manual tank gauging and inventory control for small USTs, spill, overfill and corrosion protection for large UST systems and inventory control ranging from automatic tank/line gauging systems (Veeder-Root) to statistical inventory control (SIC). Mr. Meyer is experienced in hiring UST installation/removal contractors, negotiating contracts and managing the complete process.
